Michelle (El Presidente)
Michelle grew up in Edmonton with the dream of one day joining the Tobias family Monster Truck Racing team with her very own rig “Big Betty”. But little did she know destiny had other plans for her.
1989 found young Michelle, with feathered hair and shoulder pads, on a spiritual journey through the Japanese Alps. On her adventure, she hiked and explored and discovered the beauty of the mountains. She also got lost. Really, really lost. She claims that just as she thought she’d never find her way back, she stumbled upon the habitat of an ancient Snow Monkey. Michelle insists that it was this Snow Monkey – her “Sensei” – that taught her the ancient ways of the social purveyor – generosity, kindness, fun-ness, and the art of making the perfect martini. (But we know the real story: that she was discovered passed out from hunger and fatigue on a trail just outside of a small village by a group of German tourists, about 20 minutes after she left the visitor center).
Upon returning to Canada, using the wisdom that her Sensei taught her – she became a grand social diva. Along the way she attended a wedding or two. It was at one of these weddings that she met someone - someone sweet, rich, and full of promise, someone named Newget - who has taken her on another great adventure.
Michelle began her Newget journey in 2006. She packaged, she marketed, and she shared the good word. As the news of Newget spread like the slow trickle of hot fudge on an ice-cream sundae, people found that they couldn't get enough! Soon Michelle found herself bombarded by mobs of Newget enthusiasts and realized that she couldn’t do it by herself. Fate intervened and Michelle met Rae and Kim, who literally burst into the world of Newget like two stunning miracles! After helping to pick the bits of ribbon out of Michelle's hair, and sampling some Newget themselves, this AMAZING team has made Newget a force to be reckoned with.
Rae (VP Bright Ideas, AKA “Rae-Bird”)
Rae was born in a small farming town in rural Manitoba, and has since exploded out onto the Newget scene with a bang! In between pull-ups and bench presses, Rae lets her creative juices flow both in and out of the pottery studio (where she does her best thinking!). Rae’s work is the envy of all who see it, and she is currently in discussions to show her collections at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. Despite Rae being a professional poker player and Jedi Master, Rae also finds the time to run marathons and model part-time. Rae met Michelle and was introduced to Newget on the streets of downtown Edmonton, when Michelle was peddling her wares for spare change and bus tickets. After some quick negotiations Rae was convinced to give up her lifelong dream of becoming a successful performing artist to join the Newget team. Rae is now vital to the Newget Kompany's success – who do you think came up with the slogan "you know you want more."?
Kim (VP Gettin’ It Done, AKA “Bossy Boots”)
Kim comes from a long line of very influential people (but for privacy's sake, their names will remain anonymous). If she isn't bossing people around somewhere or another, Kim can usually be found performing stand-up comedy and beatnik poetry to anyone within earshot. As well, Kim is a skilled tambourine player and is currently working some projects with her band - The Radicands (an indie-funk-jazz infusion). Kim and Michelle met when Newget was in its infant stages, and while Michelle promised her glory and riches, Kim ended up chained in Michelle's attic (sorry, "office") transforming Michelle’s disorganized stacks of random paper into a usable space and self-sustaining ecosystem, (thanks to the skills she acquired from her days performing magic tricks at children’s birthday parties). Oh the memories. Kim is now in charge of, well, bossing people around (imagine that?) although she prefers that we call it “supervising”.
Nicholas (AKA “Q-Tip”)
This curly haired whiz kid is the muscle behind the production team. He no slice, we no package.
Brian (AKA “Sherpa”)
Without our mighty Sherpa, how would the Newget team stay on the move?
The Chef (AKA ??????)
We like to keep our Chef's identity the most secret of all the Newget secrets - lest someone steal him from us.
Jennifer (The Writer)
Don't let the reserved exterior of this prim and proper writer fool you. Underneath lies the heart of a rocker chick! Back in ye old 2008, Jennifer took over the role of Newget town crier. Jennifer writes the word and spreads the tales of Newget far and wide through our fair city. Ironically she didn't write any of these bios.
Kristina (The Techie)
